Amit is a disciple of the world renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (also known as AMMA). Amit has a background in Computer science and engineering. In his early years, after his graduation, he pursued a career in software industry within India. Later he went abroad to USA and Canada where he worked in senior roles for various multi-national companies. He gave up his promising software career for spiritual pursuits after coming into the fold of the spiritual leader Amma.
After coming to India, He underwent rigorous training in Yoga and meditation while at Amma’s ashram and now since more than a decade, he is a certified teacher of the IAM Meditation Technique as well as Amrita Yoga. He regularly conducts Yoga and Meditation programs for adults, youth and children, in various organizations including Government organizations, Business corporations and Educational institutions in various parts of India and other countries like USA, Canada, UAE etc. He was invited as a guest of honor recently during Kuwait Yoga Meet 2018 in Kuwait, where he also conducting a meditation course for the people of Kuwait.
In 2007, Amit was also part of the team from Mata Amritanandamayi Math who undertook the massive project of teaching IAM Technique to India’s 2.5 million paramilitary personnel including Border Security Force (BSF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) , Central Industrial security Force (CISF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
In addition to this he is also member of the National Coordination Committee of AYUDH India. AYUDH is a youth movement spread across 6 continents, aiming to use the powerful force of young people to perpetuate natural harmony, social justice, and personal empowerment. As part of Amrita youth empowerment program, Amit delivers talks in educational institutions across India to motivate youth for serving the society and to spread the messages from the rich and ancient culture of Bharat.
Amit also delivers talks on Yoga, Meditation, Bhagvad Gita, Upanishads and other spiritual subjects. He has also delivered a talk on TEDx, titled “From Meditator to Meditation”.
